Transfergest® Software, used by about 1200 transfer and tourist transport drivers and respective business partners at the national level, recorded an increase of 75.1% in the number of services performed in 2021, compared to the same period in 2020.
In the comparison between the two periods, there is an increase of 65.6% in the number of passengers transported to and from national airports.
It is important to note that around 54% of the airport transfer movement occurred from September until the end of the year, which may be related to the recovery of demand in the low season
A clear indicator of the upturn in demand from the external tourism market is the fact that 83% of services are related to departures and arrivals at international airports.
Another fact to remember is that the drop compared to 2019 was 35%, while in 2020 it had been 61%, which represents another sign of recovery in the movement originated in airport transfers.
The analysis of the data allows to verify that the region with the highest registration of passenger transport services was the Algarve with 49%, followed by Lisbon with a total of 36%, the North registering 11% and, finally, the islands with 4% of the services registered at the national level.
Transfergest® Software, developed by OSB Solutions, a company established in the Algarve and with clients throughout the mainland and islands, presents itself as a digital platform that facilitates the management of transfer companies and tourist transport.
The software, which is licensed under SaaS, presents a variety of features related to the daily management of tourist transport companies, including receiving reservations, distribution of services, driver management and financial management of the company.
In this context, and associated with tourism transport companies whose main business area is airport transfers throughout the national territory, when comparing the data from 2021 to 2020 it is possible to extract quite optimistic statistics regarding the recovery of the national tourism sector.
Carina Miguel, CEO of OSB reveals that “through Transfergest®, we intend to continue the path of technological innovation to contribute to the digitization of management processes and operations of tourist transport companies. Our goal is quite clear: we intend to be the technological partner of these companies so that, together, we can contribute not only to accelerating the recovery of the tourism sector, one of the most affected by the pandemic crisis that is crossing the world but also to increase the competitive power of these companies in terms of service provision. Although the numbers recorded in 2021 remain below the numbers recorded in the pre-pandemic period (2019), the data obtained lead us to believe that Portugal continues to be seen as a leader in tourism. These statistics allow us to conclude that when the travel limitations that are still in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic effectively end, Portugal’s position will continue to increase in international markets. In an atypical year, in which we are still far from achieving the results verified in 2019, we interpret the above data as a sign that the recovery of the tourism sector may not take as long as was initially thought, especially after the total lifting of the restrictions against COVID-19”.
